The Analysis of Clinical Performance of Corneal Analyzer Compare to Auto Ref-Keratometer

Abstract
Purpose: To analyze clinical performance of Auto ref-Keratometer(ARK-510A : NIDEK Co.) and Corneal Analyzer (OPD-SCAN¥± : NIDEK Co.).

Method: 33 subjects(mean age of 27.42¡¾3.3) who have no ocular disease were recruited. Automatic refraction(ARK-510A : NIDEK Co.), OPD-SCAN ¥± : NIDEK Co.) and subjective refraction were measured twice with one day interval at the least. The values were converted to J vector(M, J0, J45) in order to evaluate reliability and accuracy.

Result: Mean difference and 95% limit of agreement of test-retest by ARK-510A were M = -0.027¡¾0.405D(-0.821~0.767D), J0 = 0.020¡¾0.138D(-0.250~0.290D), J45 = -0.002¡¾0.097D(-0.192~0.188D) and M = 0.094¡¾0.495D(-0.876~1.064D), J0 = 0.026¡¾0.138D(-0.244~0.300D), J45 = 0.002¡¾0.093D(-0.180~0.184D) by OPD-SCAN¥± respectively. Reliability coefficient of ARK-510A was M = 0.992, J0 = 0.976, J45 = 0.932, and that of OPD-SCAN¥± was M = 0.989, J0 = 0.967, J45 = 0.903. Mean difference and 95% limit of agreement between measurements of subjective refraction and ARK-510A was M = 0.258¡¾0.600D(-0.918~1.434D), J0 = -0.088¡¾0.116D(-0.315~0.139D), J45 = -0.009¡¾0.120 (-0.244~0.226D) and those between subjective refraction and OPD-SCAN¥± was M = 0.381¡¾0.624D(-0.842~1.604D), J0 = 0.022¡¾0.098D-0.170~0.214D), J45 = 0.001¡¾0.108D(-0.210~0.212D). Accuracy of two instrument was different at M(p = 0.006) and J0(p = 0.000) significantly.

Conclusion: Automatic refractometer (ARK-510A) was showed better accuracy and repeatability than those of corneal analyzer(OPD-SCAN¥±). It is considered that corneal analyser can be used clinically to measure refractive error.
